About The Bean Trail

About Us

We are looking for the coffee snobs.

Not to judge , but to celebrate! The Bean Trail exists for the people who can taste the difference between a coffee and a good coffee. The ones who notice origin, process, and roast level. The ones who ask questions.
South Africa has a growing speciality coffee culture , roasteries pushing boundaries, baristas competing on world stages, and independent coffee shops creating real experiences around the cup. The Bean Trail was built to put those places on the map.

What we stand for

The Speciality Coffee Association (SCA) defines speciality as a coffee or coffee experience recognised for its distinctive attributes, resulting in a significantly higher value in the marketplace — in plain terms, a coffee or an experience that meets a standard. That standard is what we are here to support.
But w are not a gatekeeping platform. You don't need to be SCA- or SCASA-certified to be part of The Bean Trail. What you do need is a love for the craft and a commitment to the community. This platform is for the community, managed by the community.
If your shop cares about quality , YOU BELONG HERE !

Who we are

The Bean Trail is a small project with a big mission. We are three friends who care deeply about coffee and wanted to build something that gives South Africa's speciality coffee scene the platform it deserves.
Emile Geyser (Middle) , final year Industrial Engineering student, handling admin, website development and the contact person.
Imke Keyser (Right) ,bringing the visual identity to life through her illustrations and artwork.
Wian Maritz (Left), final year Mechanical Engineering student, leading the design direction.
We are students from Potchefstroom that love the coffee people. And we built this because we are passionate about speciality coffee in South Africa.
